College of Nursing

The College of Nursing (CON) is one of the programs under the Center for Medical and Allied Health Sciences (CMAHS). In June 12, 2003, the New Era University College of Nursing was granted the permit to offer the Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program with Prof. Lavinia D. Panganiban as the dean. Since 2004, the College has been under the leadership of Prof. Baby Simonnette B. Leoncio. The college was granted the government recognition for the BS Nursing Program by the Commission on Higher Education in March 2007.

In its 17 years of operation, the college has set an outstanding record in the Philippine Nurse Licensure Examination (PNLE). For two consecutive years—November 2009 and December 2010, it ranked 4th place among the Top Performing Schools, and ranked 3rd place in 2011. In 2012, the College produced its first board topnotcher, Mr. Billy T. Rabago who ranked 2nd place. Another remarkable record was set by Ms. Kristine Joie A. Danan who ranked 1st Place in the December 2013 PNLE. With its continued commitment to quality education, additional PNLE board topnotchers were produced by the college, Mr. Aldrin S. Bagang, who ranked 3rd place in November 2016 and Ms. Kyra Lianne H. Gamboa who ranked 9th place in November 2018 PNLE. The college successfully maintained the 100% passing rate for the past five years, November 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019.

Nature of the Field of Study

The BSN is a four-year program consisting of general education and professional courses. Professional courses are threaded through from the first year thru the fourth year with the emphasis on the nursing concepts with corresponding Related Learning Experiences (RLE). The BSN Program provides an intensive nursing practicum that will refine further the nursing competencies to ensure achievement of the BSN Program Outcomes required of an entry level nurse.
