NEU Team wins DICT Cyber Challenge 2023

NEU College of Informatics and Computing Studies (CICS) was declared NCR Champion in the recently conducted HackForGov with the theme, “Cyber Challenge 2023: Building Cyber Champions: Stronger Nation through Cyber Awareness and Action”, held last April 12, 2023, at the Manila Prince Hotel, Ermita. 3rd Year BS Computer Science students Aldwin Tapican, Marc Owen Ramos, Carl John Galvan, and Carl Kenneth Galvan, together with their coach, CICS Dean Prof. Audrey Lyle D. Diego competed in the said competition. The event was hosted and organized by the Philippine National Computer Emergency Response Team (PH-CERT), a division under the Cybersecurity Bureau of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT).


HackForGov is an activity that serves as a platform for students to showcase their abilities and develop a deeper understanding of the various cybersecurity issues and challenges faced by organizations and individuals. The competition provides a unique opportunity for students to learn from experts, network with peers and develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills.


Among the participating NCR schools were De La Salle University, Mapua University, FEU Institute of Technology, and Technological Institute of the Philippines.
