We always say thank you to Philippines: Ambassador of Israel to the Philippines delivers speech in NEU

Food, dance, singing, and beautiful beaches – the four pillars of the Philippines, as an anecdote says. There’s the fifth one – smile and Filipino hospitality, noted His Excellency, Ephraim Ben Matityau, Ambassador of Israel to the Philippines before the NEU community on June 11, 2018. “May this remain your treasure in the years to come.”

The “diplomatic rockstar” reminisced how Filipino nation showed kindness to Israel. Pres. Manuel Quezon during the Philippine Commonwealth opened the country for Jewish refugees who suffered persecution from the Nazi. In 1948, Pres. Manuel Roxas voted for the United Nation’s resolution for the establishment of the state of Israel. “I’m thankful to your country,” he said, noting that the two countries’ connection is more than political.

The ambassador reached out to the Filipino nation in general, and the NEU community in particular by encouraging joint ventures in researches on agriculture, entrepreneurship, and technology, among others.
