NEU College of Law holds 15th Commencement Exercises

The College of Law held its 15th Commencement Exercises last June 15, 2018 with 64 graduates.

A Special Worship Service was held at 9 in the morning at the Local Congregation of New Era University. Brother Mathusalem Pareja officiated the said Worship Service. It was attended by the graduates, their parents and law students who were very much blessed to have finished another school year in the College of Law.

The graduation ceremonies were held in the afternoon at the University Hall. In his speech, Asst. Dean David Jonathan V. Yap stressed that this is an “event of firsts” for the College of Law. This is the first time that the College has held its graduation at the newly renovated University Hall. This is also the first time that the College of Law has produced its graduates from the Juris Doctor program. In its entire history, this is also the year that the College has produced the largest number of graduates, with 39 students graduating from the Bachelor of Laws and 25 students graduating from the Juris Doctor program.

Dean Serafin V. Cuevas, Jr. introduced Justice Angelita V. Miranda of the Office of the Solicitor General as Guest Speaker for the graduation rites. On the other hand, Atty. Randy Escolango, Deputy Commissioner of the Philippine Insurance Commission, led the Alumni Oath.

Salymar V. Santos was hailed Batch Valedictorian and Academic Excellence Awardee. She was also awarded Best in Remedial Law and Best in Legal Ethics.

BEST IN CIVIL LAW – Arvidsson L. Monterde;
BEST IN TAXATION – Anna Faye G. Caraig;
BEST IN COMMERCIAL LAW – Princess Joy B. Francisco; BEST IN CRIMINAL LAW – Makel Deric M. Mañabo;
BEST IN REMEDIAL LAW – Janine V. Mabilangan;
BEST IN LEGAL ETHICS – Anna Faye G. Caraig, Rey Edward L. Concepcion, Gellie Vallerie T. Lumantas, Princess Joy B. Francisco, Makel Deric M. Mañabo.

Elsa M. Cañete, a Juris Doctor graduate, was also given a special citation for being the first Senior Citizen graduate of the College of Law.
