College of Engineering and Architecture

It was in 1978 when the Institute of Engineering and Technology became a collegiate department. Now known as the College of Engineering and Architecture (CEA), it currently houses 7 programs: BS Civil Engineering (BS CE); BS Electronics Engineering (BS ECE); BS Electrical Engineering (BS EE); BS Industrial Engineering (BS IE); BS Mechanical Engineering (BS ME); BS Architecture; and BS Astronomy. The College's graduates consistently clinch top ranks in board examinations. Some of the Electronics and Communications Engineering Board Exam Topnotchers are: Engr. Jonas Paderanga (8th place) in 1988 and Engr. Abraham C. Ignacio (4th place) in 1989, Engr. Alfred Norman C. Coronel (6th place) in November 1991, Engr. Anthony N. Sanding (2nd place) in November 1993, both Engr. Ronie Padua (2nd place) and Engr. Arnel Delgadillo (15th place) in April 1994, and Engr. Randy A. Velasco (6th place) in November 1994. Engr. David D. Parial got the 17th place in the Mechanical Engineering Board Examinations in 1989 and Engr. Noel Barcelona placed 8th in 1995. In May 1993, the Civil Engineering department produced the Institute's highest number of Topnotchers in the Civil Engineering Board Exam when Engr. Lamberto V. Sabado, Engr. Melchizedek E. Manalo, and Engr. Ramel Valoroso placed 9th, 15th, and 17th, respectively. In 2013, Engr. Henmark S. Pichay got the 9th Place. Mr. Roger D. Perfecto became a Registered Master Electrician Board Exam Topnotcher by getting the 5th place in October 1996. In 2011, Engr. Helen Kaye T. Layco, obtained the 10th place for the Industrial Engineering Certification given by PIIE, also, Engr. Justin Carlo A. Dela Cruz a graduate in 2012, became an ASEAN engineer. In 2014, the College produced 102 professional engineers, and 79 certified technologists in 2016. For four consecutive years, the College invariably bags the Championship for the NEU – Science Fair, and is among the Top 10, also for four consecutive years, in the Bridge Competition, a National Quiz Bee for Structural Engineering. The college was also among the Top 3 in the 2014 IECEP Regional Quiz Bowl, wherein the Engineering students are also active officers. Moreover, TurboCharge, a prototype gasoline-efficient engine designed by Team Mandaragit, became a finalist in the Shell EcoMarathon Asia in 2016. The College has also strengthened its Research, Curriculum, Student, and Faculty Development, thus pioneering the implementation of the Outcomes-Based Education in the University, Academe-Industry, and Community Outreach Linkages.
