College of Arts and Sciences

Initially, the College was called the Department of Liberal Arts in 1981 and eventually became the Institute of Arts and Sciences, offering AB Psychology and AB Journalism programs. Additional courses such as BS Biology, AB Economics, AB Foreign Service, and AB Political Science were added in 1987. In 1995, the Institute of Arts and Sciences was renamed as the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS). In March 1996, the Liberal Arts courses were certified to have satisfactorily met the standards of the Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation (PACUCOA) for Level I Accreditation Status and in 2007, was granted its Level II Accreditation Status. In 2014, the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) granted full recognition to BA Political Science and BA Communication as straight programs as well as to AB Foreign Service, a year after. Recently, in 2016, BA Public Administration was offered by the College upon receiving approval from CHED. Since its participation in the Psychometrician Licensure Examination in 2015, CAS has had quite a number of passers and its first topnotcher in the person of Ms. Johnna S.J. Villanueva who clinched the 7th place in the October 2017 board exam.
